Passports

Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond the intended date of departure from East Timor by all nationals referred to in the chart above.

Visas

All nationals referred to in the chart above require a visa to visit East Timor. Visas do not need to be obtained in advance for travel to East Timor; an entry permit valid for 30 days will be issued on arrival. If the traveller can prove that he/she has valid grounds for staying in East Timor, they can then obtain an extension.

Note: Nationals not referred to in the chart above are advised to contact the embassy to check visa requirements (see Contact Addresses).

Types of Visa and Cost

Visas cost US$30 for stays of 30 days and less; extensions cost US$45 for each subsequent period of 30 days. Fines for overstaying can far outweigh the cost of arranging a visa extension. There is a US$10 fee for airport tax, paid at the airport on the day of departure.
