Hotels

There are a good number of luxury hotels, the majority of which are located in Douba, Lautoka, Nadi, Raki Raki, Sigatoka, Suva and Tavua and off Viti Levu at Ovalau and Savusavu. There are also many small inexpensive hotels throughout the islands. Increasing numbers of establishments, such as lodges, are offering dormitory accommodation at cheap rates. Small resort islands include Beachcomber Island, Castaway Island, Mana Island, Plantation Island and Treasure Island. It is advised to always book in advance, particularly as some islands limit the number of visitors that can stay - some allow no more than 16 guests. A 3% hotel tax is levied on all services charged to guests' accounts, including meals in hotel restaurants.

Grading:
A star system is used to indicate the price range, as follows: 3-star (deluxe), 2-star (medium) and 1-star (budget).

Guest Houses

Guesthouses or budgetels, as they are known locally, are mostly clean, comfortable and have a licensed bar, pool and restaurant; some are air conditioned with kitchens. Lodges are another popular budget option.

Self Catering

Bungalows are available on Viti Levu, the Mamanucas and the Yaswas. Bungalows consist of standard to deluxe rooms and bathrooms (some have shared bathrooms). Meals are often prepared by the host and served in the main house. Some resorts have overwater, beachfront bungalows with a separate living room and air conditioning. Self-contained holiday houses and flats are also available across the main islands.

Youth Hostels

Hostels are available on Viti Levu, the Yasawas and the Mamanucas.
