Other Risks

Vaccinations against hepatitis B and tuberculosis are sometimes advised. Precautions should be taken against tick bites. For anyone planning to spend long periods of time in forested areas, immunisation against tick-borne encephalitis is advised. Rabies is present. If you are bitten, seek medical advice without delay.

Health Care

For UK nationals emergency medical treatment is normally free on presentation of a UK passport. Similar agreements exist for many other European nationals. Non-emergency care and prescribed medicines must be paid for. All travellers are advised to take out full medical insurance.
