Weather for Denver

Best time to visit:

Each of Denver’s four distinct seasons has its own set of pros and cons. Fall in Denver can mean unpredictable snowstorms, generally beginning in September, but the cool, crisp temperatures are enjoyably mild, and the autumn leaves are beautiful in the city and mountains alike.

Winter in Denver is heaven to skiers and similar outdoor enthusiasts, as Rocky Mountain slopes are world-renowned with relatively mild temperatures, though you must be cautious of ice often caused by gusty days.

The outdoor fun continues into spring, with March being the snowiest month in Denver, though the weather is notoriously undependable. The city starts to turn green and the occasional weirdly warm days are exceptionally exciting for locals.

Once summer is in full swing, Denver seems like a different place. The heat is infamously dry, but rarely uncomfortably scorching hot. The mountains, especially, stay cool, and a wide range of activities are available among the wildflowers that bloom there. Beware of afternoon thunderstorms that tend to persist throughout the summer months.
