Foie gras, duck, oysters and, of course, wonderful wines are all local delicacies in Bordeaux. A great alternative to Paris, Bordeaux is the perfect gastro break this time of year. Don't miss the city's sweet speciality: the canelés - small cakes flavoured with vanilla and rum.

Copenhagen fascinates with its avant-garde chefs, who constantly experiment with unconventional ingredients. Various international cuisines have made their mark on the city, most notably French and Oriental. Modern Danish cuisine uses the freshest local ingredients and infuses them with new flavours: seafood and shellfish are a must in the city. Also try smørrebrød - Denmark's open-faced sandwiches, with toppings ranging from liver paste and smoked eel, to ham, cheese, and salmon.
