Airport news: 

The airport has invested in significant expansion of its capacity, with a new security and passport control area recently completed, together with new baggage handling facilities and enhancement of retail areas, including expansion of the duty-free area in Concourse C. New car parking facilities have been added. Düsseldorf International Airport is also increasingly becoming a major hub for Air Berlin.

Information: 

Information desks can be found in Departures, Arrivals and at the Düsseldorf Airport Rail Station. The main information desk is located next to Belt 6 in central Arrivals. Passengers can also phone the airport for information (tel: (0211) 4210).

Driving directions: 

The A44 autobahn runs east-west past the airport with a dedicated exit, signed 'Flughafen'. The A44 connects to the A52 north and the A3 north-south.

Public Transport

Public transport rail: 

Rail: More than 350 trains a day stop at the Düsseldorf Airport Rail Station (tel: 0180 599 6633; www.bahn.de), including regional, express, intercity and high-speed InterCity Express (ICE) trains travelling between the airport and a number of destinations in Germany. Journey time from Düsseldorf central station is around 10 minutes. The automated SkyTrain links the railway station and the terminal building in around six minutes.

Underground: The local S11 S-Bahn train runs directly into the airport complex.

Terminal facilities

Money: 

Two banks are located on the Departures level, and one on the Arrivals level. ATMs and public telephones can be found throughout the airport and at the Düsseldorf Airport Rail Station. Paid-for wireless Internet access is available throughout the Terminal, and there are fixed Internet access desks at various locations.

Food: 

There are many bars, cafés and restaurants at the airport, before and after security.

Shopping: 

There are plenty of shops at the airport; from gift shops and fashion stores to food shops and duty-free outlets. Shops are open from early morning until late at night, seven days a week.

Luggage: 

Porters are available (tel: (0211) 421 6888/6637). Left-luggage and a lost and found service are available on the first floor of Car Park 3 (tel: (0211) 421 2515).

Other: 

The airport has first aid and baby change facilities, as well as a non-denominational prayer room. A pharmacy and a dental practice are located in the Airport Arcades.

Airport facilities

Conference and business: 

The Wöllhaf Conference Centre (tel: (0211) 496 230; www.airport-konferenz.de/duesseldorf) is located on Level 3 in the terminal. It has 24 conference rooms equipped with the latest conference technology and can accommodate small groups and large congresses of up to 250 participants. The Arabella Sheraton Airport Hotel (tel: (0211) 417 30; www.sheratonduesseldorfairport.com) also offers numerous conference rooms, as does the nearby Maritim Airport Hotel (tel: (0211) 520 90; www.maritim.com). There is also a large multi-purpose meetings and events facility (tel: (0211) 421 71502) at the airport's railway station. There are numerous business lounges at the airport.

Disabled facilities: 

The airport provides physically accessible facilities for disabled passengers, with the exception of the duty-free shop in Departures Concourse C; wheelchairs are available on request. Passengers with disabilities are requested to inform their airline in advance of their requirements. Drivers displaying disability ID can park in any car park for free. The SkyTrain is wheelchair accessible.

Car parking: 

There are several car parks available with direct access to the terminals. These are mostly short-term car parks, while the long-term cark parks are further away from the terminals. Reservation for long-term parking is limited to car park 2 of the car parks near the terminals. Parking garages 4 and 5 and parking lot 6 are connected to the terminal via the SkyTrain (journey time: 2 minutes). The new Car Park 7 has added more than 3,000 spaces immediately outside of the terminal building. The first 15 minutes of parking in the underground car park P1 are free. Car rental: 

Car hire companies include Avis, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt. Desks are located in the central Arrivals hall.

Airport hotels

There are two major hotels directly linked to the terminal building; The Sheraton Düsseldorf Airport Hotel and the Maritim Airport Hotel. The airport's short distance from the city centre means that other options are plentiful. A number of other major hotel brands can be found within a short distance; there is an automated hotel service for local hotel information (tel: (0211) 172 020).

Holiday Inn Düsseldorf Airport

Holiday Inn Düsseldorf Airport is located 4km (2.5 miles) from Düsseldorf International Airport and offers a complimentary shuttle bus service to/from the terminal building. Hotel facilities include a swimming pool, terraced and garden areas, and a 'beach'. There is also a pub and restaurant on site.
