Glasgow Marriott
Just off the M8, this 300-room hotel is popular with business travellers. Style is corporate and comfortable, with cable and satellite TV in all the rooms and Wi-Fi access in the public areas and some rooms. The leisure club has a pool, spa and a gym with a cardio theatre and fitness studio. The hotel has 13 meeting rooms, the largest seating 800. There is a Mediterranean restaurant as well as a cafe/bar.
ABode
Part of the upmarket mini-chain of boutique hotels linked to the chef Michael Caines. Choose from 59 bedrooms, rated Comfortable, Desirable, Enviable and Fabulous. If you're feeling Fabulous, prices can be sky high but you'll be pampered in a setting that includes wooden panelling, floor-to-ceiling bookcases, personal DVD players and monsoon showers. The hotel also has an award-winning restaurant (see Restaurants ) and a late-night bar where you'll find Glasgow's gorgeous and loaded.
Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens
Situated in the fashionable West End, this classy Victorian townhouse is the hotel of choice for visiting celebrities. It combines efficiency with country house comfort and contemporary style. All rooms have internet, satellite TV, plus CD and DVD systems. Some rooms are decorated in a more contemporary style complete with monsoon showers. The hotel's bistro uses locally sourced ingredients and there's a less formal eaterie in the bar.
Park Inn
This classy, trendy hotel is very convenient for the Royal Concert Hall. There are 100 rooms, decorated in various colours from smooth caramel to hot orange, and all with sleek, contemporary bathrooms, most with power showers. Rooms have DVD players or Sony PlayStations, satellite TV and free Wi-Fi access. There is a choice of luxury suites and all rooms are non smoking. The fine dining restaurant, Oshi , offers 'fusion-inspired' cuisine.
Radisson Blu
This hotel opened in 2002 and has 250 bright, modern rooms. It is conveniently close to the smartest shops in the heart of Glasgow and has three types of room: City, Modern and Nordic, all with different décor. All rooms have free broadband Internet access and many offer stunning views across the city. The fitness centre is well equipped with a pool, spin bikes and techno gym.
Saint Judes
Lovely boutique hotel in the city centre with just five rooms and one penthouse suite. Rooms are decorated in contemporary but romantic style and all have satellite TV, DVD and CD players and fast Internet access. The whole effect is intimate and stylish. There is a Parisian bistro and a club room, which is used for private parties, dinners and meetings.
Novotel
Sleek and modern city centre hotel with 139 en-suite rooms and a good standard of service. Décor is clean and unfussy, and the rooms all have satellite and cable TV. There's a rooftop fitness centre with a gym and a sauna, and the business traveller is well catered for with a choice of six meeting rooms. The hotel also has its own parking.
The Brunswick
This small, designer hotel occupies a prime spot in the Merchant City. It's fashionable but reasonably priced and has a cool basement bar and excellent restaurant. The 18 individually furnished rooms are all simple, modern and comfortable. It's a great choice if you want to sample some Scottish style without spending a fortune.
