To enter Bangladesh, a passport valid for six months from the entry date is required by all nationals referred to in the chart above.

Visa Note

Citizens of the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, United States, EU nationals and citizens from some other countries are eligible for a 30-day visa on arrival if travelling for tourism, business or investment purposes; check with the embassy/high commission in advance for eligibility. To obtain a visa on arrival, you must bring the appropriate fee in Pounds Sterling, Euros or US Dollars, carry a return ticket and be able to show you have a minimum of US$500 in cash or on a credit card. 

 

To obtain a tourist visa, a hotel confirmation and letter of invitation may be requested. Business travellers require a letter from their own company as well as a letter of invitation from a company based in Bangladesh, mentioning the applicant's name and passport number.

Bangladeshi nationals with dual citizenship/ foreign citizens of Bangladeshi origin and their family members can apply for a long-term 'No Visa Required' sticker, but should be aware this limits any assistance foreign diplomatic representatives can offer you.

Types and Cost

Visa on arrival: US$50.

 

Bangladesh visa prices for Australian nationals: £103 (single-entry, double-entry and multiple-entry for three months).

 

Bangladesh visa prices for Canadian nationals: £53 (single-entry and double-entry); £103 (multiple-entry for three months).

 

Bangladesh visa prices for UK nationals: £105 (single-entry, double-entry and multiple-entry for six months). Visa prices for nationals from other EU countries vary according to country.

 

Bangladesh visa prices for US nationals: US$160 (single-entry, double-entry and multiple-entry for three months).

Validity

Visa on arrival: 30 days.

The maximum stay for a tourist visa is two months; the maximum stay for a business visa is six months.

Application to

Consular section at the embassy or high commission (recommended) or on arrival for certain nationalities.

Working days

Allow at least seven working days for applications submitted in person or at least 10 working days from the date of receipt for postal applications.

Extension of stay

If you wish to extend your visa, you need to contact the Department of Immigration and Passports (www.dip.gov.bd).
