Hangzhou Grand Theatre

The Hangzhou Grand Theatre is the city's top venue for quality performances. It has the best acoustics of any theatre in town, pulls in the biggest names and is housed in an eye-catching space-age venue which is almost worth the trip into the city centre alone.

Impression West Lake

This an extravagant sound-and-light show produced by Zhang Yimou (of Beijing Olympics opening ceremony fame) and held on West Lake itself. It's performed every evening (apart from during winter months) on the north side of the lake, just off Su Causeway.

This theatre is particularly good for folk music and Shaoxing Opera.
