Flying to Jamaica

There are regular flights to Jamaica from major UK airports. The national airline Air Jamaica (JM) (www.airjamaica.com) flies regularly to the UK and US. Several tour operators offer cheap flights to Montego Bay from Manchester, Birmingham and Gatwick, while British Airways (www.britishairways.com) and Virgin Atlantic (www.virgin-atlantic.com) also fly regularly between Gatwick and Kingston. Mid-April to early December is the cheapest period to fly to Jamaica with some fares cut by up to 60%. The rest of the year is high season, the most expensive period for flights.

Flight times:

From London to Kingston or Montego Bay is 10 hours, and from New York is 3 hours 40 minutes.

Departure tax:

US$27 (J$2,300 Jamaican Dollars) and must be paid in cash – however many tickets include this tax in their price, so check first.

Getting to Jamaica by boat

Montego Bay, Falmouth and Ocho Rios are ports of call for several cruise lines. Other passenger/freight lines (Geest) sail from North, South and Central American ports.
