Tokyo Narita International Airport Guide (NRT)
Here you'll find essential information on Tokyo Narita International Airport, including contact details, airport transfer facts, details of airport facilities, and how to get there.
A new high-speed rail link, Narita Sky Access, opened in July 2010, cutting the journey time from Tokyo to the airport by a third; it now takes just 36 minutes.
There are several information desks in both terminals. A tourist information counter (tel: (04) 7630 3383) is available in Terminal 1.
A free shuttle bus links the two terminals.
The airport is situated on the Shin-Kulo Expressway, which has links to the Higashi-Kanto Expressway and Route 295, and to nearby cities, including Tokyo.
Public Transport
Rail: Passengers should check which terminal they require before setting off for the airport as the terminals have separate railway stations: The Narita Airport Station (Terminal 1) and the Airport Terminal 2 Station. The newly-opened high speed Narita Sky Access (tel: (04) 7632 8501; www.keisei.co.jp) service is the fastest option between the airport and Tokyo; journey time is 36 minutes. Keisei Electric Railway (tel: (04) 7632 8501 or 348 763: www.keisei.co.jp) provides services to Keisei Ueno in central Tokyo, as well as a direct service to Haneda Airport. Japan Railways (tel: (04) 7633 1630 or 7634 6008; www.jreast.co.jp) operates the reservation-only Narita Express as well as non-reservation rapid trains which serve Tokyo and regional destinations.
Bus: Shuttle buses operate to Haneda Airport, Tokyo Station, Shinjuku Station and major hotels in Tokyo, as well as direct services to other cities such as Sendai, Utsunomiya and Omiya.
Taxi: Taxis and limousines are available at the airport.
Terminal facilities
Both terminals have banks, ATMs, bureaux de change and a post office. Coin-operated Internet terminals, Wireless Internet access, mobile phone hire, telephone, fax and photocopying services are available in both terminals.
There is a good variety of Japanese and Western restaurants, as well as cafés, fast-food outlets and bars.
There are a number of shops, including duty-free, in both terminals.
Luggage storage services, as well as luggage lockers, are available in both terminals. For inquiries about lost luggage, contact the airline or one of the airport's information desks.
These include medical clinics, a dentist, baby-change facilities, nurseries, children's play areas, showers and sleeping rooms.
Airport facilities
Terminal 1 has a business centre which provides fax, photocopying, Internet access and meeting rooms (tel: (04) 7630 0035). Many of these services are also available at various points throughout both terminals, including Wireless Internet access.
These include tactile flooring, wheelchair-accessible toilets and telephones. Wheelchairs can be hired from the information counters (landside only); passengers should inform their airline of any special assistance required, prior to travel. Car parks at both terminals provide disabled parking spaces with discounted rates for people with disability ID. The airport railway stations and inter-terminal shuttles are wheelchair-accessible.
There is long- and short-term parking at the airport. Car parks P1 and P5are situated in front of Terminal 1, while car parks P2 and P3 are outside Terminal 2.
