Al-Boom

Al-Boom restaurant, in the hull of a dhow (traditional fishing boats in the Arabian Gulf), took three years to construct from teak wood and 2.5 tonnes of copper, and was completed with 8.8 tonnes of handmade iron nails. Dinner is a fixed menu of grilled grouper or sirloin, delivered spitting to your table in the galley. The ship is dry, in all senses of the word, so seasickness is of no concern.

Split over a number of levels, this arabesque restaurant hanging in the atrium of the Crowne Plaza Hotel , serves delicious Lebanese food with true Arabian hospitality. After the enormous Arabian Friday brunch, you'll be napping like the locals.

Burj Al-Hamam

This steel-clad restaurant in the middle of the Corniche is a great place to sample delicious Middle-Eastern fare in a local party atmosphere. There's a wide view of the sea, outdoor and indoor seating and a continual waft of multi-flavoured sheesha (water pipe).
