Lima’s patron saint, Our Lord of Miracles (Señor de los Milagros), is celebrated in October when an elaborate bier is carried through Lima’s streets accompanied by chanting, clouds of incense and the tolling of church bells. Devotees flock in, many drawn by the saint's reputation for healing. It is an awe-inspiring spectacle, charged with emotion and vibrant with the saint's colour, purple. There are also food stalls, concerts and a firework display.
The procession starts from the Church and Convent of Nazarenes, corner of Huancavelica Street and Tacna Avenue and continues through streets of central Lima to the Church of La Merced in Barrios Altos, Lima, Peru
