Things to do in Madrid
There are several parks in Madrid that are suitable for biking. The best known is Retiro Park. Another is Casa de Campo Park on the bank of the Manzanares River. For city cycling, a lane is reserved for bikes on the Madrid Green Cyclist Ring.
The Madrid mountains provide a wealth of opportunities for hikers. The most famous is the Royal Path, a reconstruction of the route historically used by Spanish monarchs when travelling around the Madrid Sierra.
Madrid is well-equipped for all kinds of boating, from kayaking and canoeing to flatwater racing. The most popular venue is the Lago de la Casa de Campo de Madrid. There are several local boating clubs for all levels of skill.

Horse riding is a popular activity in Madrid, and, as such, there are top facilities for horse riders. Competitions are usually held at the Hipodromo de La Zarzuela.

Ski season runs from December to May, and the main resorts in reach of Madrid are set in the nearby mountain range of Sierra de Guadarrama. There are three main ski resorts: Navacerrada, Valdesqui and La Pinilla.
