Weather in Manchester

Best time to visit

Manchester experiences warm summers and cold winters. Typical summer temperatures average around 20°C (69°F) whilst winters lows can fall to 2°C (35°F). There is also regular, but light rainfall throughout the year, so it always pays to take plenty of layers as well as an umbrella on a visit to the city. The best time to visit is spring and summer (May to August) when the sun should have its hat on and events like the music festivals and Manchester Pride take place.

Symbols indicate the predominant weather for the day in question, calculated based on a weighting of different types of weather. So if a day is forecast to be sunny with the possibility of a brief shower, then we will see a sunny or partly cloudy symbol rather than a rain cloud. For the purpose of this forecast, 'day' is the entire 24 our period 00:00 to 23:59

  • 51 to 70 is moderate to low
  • 71 to 80 is moderate
  • 81 to 90 is moderate to high
  • 91 to 100 is high
Pressure is measured in millibars (mb)
