Grand Hyatt Muscat

With exotic marble flooring, indoor palm trees, stained glass windows, Bedouin tents and a revolving Arab on horseback, the decor of this luxurious and quirky beachside Hyatt was the inspiration of a Yemeni sheikh. It offers some quality Arabic and Italian dining while jazz piano music contributes to the elegant ambience of the John Barry bar.

Marina Hotel

Overlooking Mutrah fish market, this simple, harbourside hotel offers the best views of Mutrah's famous corniche. It can be noisy and not exactly spotless, but as it is within walking distance of Mutrah Souk, it is at least convenient.

Naseem Hotel

This tired old favourite may have seen better days, but with Mutrah Souk on the doorstep and a cheap and cheerful atmosphere, a budget traveller won't find better value this close to the heart of Muscat.

The Chedi Muscat

Perhaps the most famous hotel in Muscat, and certainly one of the best hotels in the world. Traditional Omani architecture combine with stylish décor and sumptuous rooms to create a hotel exuding class and elegance. Each of the 156 rooms and suites offer access to turquoise pools bordered by beautiful cabanas, a water garden and a private beach. A new spa, gym and pool facility is planned for the property in 2010.
