Thousands of participants descend on the city each year to run in or watch the popular Country Music Marathon and 1/2 Marathon. Runners set off from Centennial Park and a carnival atmosphere takes over the city as approximately 50 bands and 30 high school cheer squads line the route at what's known as 'Music City'. Musical styles include country, rock, jazz, blues, swing, and generate a unique and electrifying buzz for the day's event. The music and entertainment continues late into the night at the post-race party at the Gaylord Entertainment Center in downtown Nashville.
