Flying to New Zealand

The national airline is Air New Zealand (NZ) (www.airnz.co.nz). Other airlines operating indirect flights to New Zealand include Emirates (www.emirates.com), Singapore Airlines (www.singaporeair.com) and Qantas (www.qantas.com.au).

Flight times:

The flight time from London to Auckland is 25 hours, to Wellington 29 hours and to Christchurch 30 hours. From New York to Auckland it is 20 hours.

Departure tax:

Up to NZ$25 (depending on airport); children aged under 12 are generally exempt, but age range varies according to airport. Transit passengers are generally exempt for 24 hours, but again this is dependent on airport.

Getting to New Zealand by boat

The destinations: Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Lyttelton, Opua, Picton and Wellington are served by international shipping lines sailing from the USA and from Europe.
