FCO advises against all travel to Lebanon

(17 July 2006)

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has revised its travel advice and is currently advising against all travel to Lebanon.

Beirut airport is closed following Israeli air strikes and all ports have been blocked. The main Beirut-Damascus highway is closed.

British nationals in Lebanon should keep in touch with the British Embassy, who are working on arrangements to evacuate Britons. Two Royal Navy ships are making their way to the region.
