Explosion In Indian-Administered Kashmir

(11 May 2005)

A powerful bomb has exploded in the summer capital of Indian-administered Kashmir, Srinagar. One person has been killed and many more have been injured. It was hoped that a new bus service linking Indian- and Pakistan-administered Kashmir would promote peace in the region. But this is the first attack since the service began last month and it is feared that the explosion may mark the start of renewed violence. The Foreign Office (FCO) advise against all travel to Kashmir.
