Terminal 5 open for business
(27 March 2008)Heathrow Airport's high-tech fifth terminal has opened to passengers flying with British Airways.
The controversial addition to London's busiest airport has been opposed by environmental groups and local residents.
A flight from Hong Kong, captained by the airline's first female pilot, was the first to arrive at the £4.3 billion facility.
Plans to fingerprint passengers using the terminal have been postponed amid concerns that the move may breach data protection laws.
