easyJet plane fire

Passengers have described an engine fire on an easyJet flight from Athens to Luton Airport.

The Boeing 737 made an emergency landing at the Greek airport, 40 minutes after taking off.

Witnesses reported a loud noise and flames coming from one of the engines. Richard Leigh said: “People started shouting, and we were just hanging on for grim death.”

A spokeswoman for the airline said an investigation was under way.
