British Airways profits up

(16 May 2008)

British Airways has reported a 45% rise in annual profits but warned rising fuel costs will pose future problems.

The airline made a profit of £883 million last financial year, but it is predicted earnings will be hit by problems with the new Terminal 5 this year.

BA boss Willie Walsh said he would not be taking his bonus, worth up to £700,000, as he was taking personal responsibility for the troubled opening.
