P&O to launch largest ever ferries
(16 June 2008)Mega ferries are to be launched on the Dover-Calais route by P&O Ferries.
The new ships will double the capacity of those they will be replacing, weighing 49,000 tonnes and measuring 210m (689ft) each.
Up to 1,500 passengers will have room on board – along with a third deck for 250 tourist vehicles and space for 160 articulated lorries.
The order placed by the company is worth more than €350million.
