New World Heritage site
(09 July 2008)Cambodians are celebrating after an 11th-century temple was granted World Heritage status by UNESCO.
The Preah Vihear temple, on the Cambodia-Thailand border, sits at the top of a 518m (1,700ft) cliff in the Dangrek Mountains. It was built as part of the Khmer empire.
The Hindu site is still the subject of a political row between Cambodia and Thailand, 50 years after it was ruled that the temple belonged to Cambodia.
