Forest fire engulfs Antalya
(04 August 2008)A major forest fire has devastated 4,000 hectares (10,000 acres) of woodland in Antalya, Turkey's largest tourism district.
Two people have been reported missing and over 60 homes have been destroyed by the blaze, which authorities believe was started by a faulty power line.
Around 1,300 people are involved in the fire-fighting procedure, while a dozen aircraft have been called in to drop water on the blaze in an attempt to stop it spreading.
Authorities hope to have the fire under control by Monday evening, a state-run media agency reported.
Around 15 other forest fires have already been put out in Turkey as hot weather and a lack of rain has left the area's woodland vulnerable.
