Kidman's film aims to revive Australian tourism

(19 November 2008)

Australia's most expensive film is under pressure from tourism chiefs who hope it will boost the country's flagging tourism figures.

Australia, directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring Nicole Kidman, is Australia's most expensive film to date.

It is hoped the £86 million invested in it will help bring tourist dollars to its namesake, which saw tourism from overseas visitors fall by 7.6% in September alone.

Australia will hit the screens in Britain on 26 December.
