Extreme weather causes Gatwick delays

(11 December 2008)

Ice on the runway at Gatwick airport caused delays to at least 60 flights on Thursday morning.

Hundreds of passengers faced disruptions to their flights as airport staff attempted to de-ice the runway and taxiways.

The runway was closed at 0550. Passengers are being advised to check-in as normal. Some inbound services were diverted and others were cancelled.
