New US travel rules could see British tourists sent home

(12 January 2009)

The Foreign Office has warned that new US entry regulations may mean millions of holidaymakers could be sent home by US immigration.

UK visitors will need to register online before travelling to America under the new rules which require tourists to fill out an electronic travel authorisation form 72 hours before their trip.

The US Embassy in London said so far 99.6% of the applications had been approved - most within four seconds.
