Credit-crunched 20-somethings to holiday with parents

(05 June 2009)

More than half of Britain's young adults are planning to holiday with their parents this summer in a bid to save money during the recession, according to new research.

In the survey, 52% of Britons aged 20-30 revealed they were considering holidaying with their parents this year.

A further 64% of this new breed of holidaymakers - labelled HOMADs because they 'Holiday on Mum and Dad' - admitted that they would go on holiday with family members who offered to pay, even if they could not stand spending much time with them.

"As young people suffer in the credit crunch, more 20-somethings than ever are choosing to go on holiday with their folks," said Courtney Wylie, managing director of Holiday-rentals.co.uk, the holiday home website that carried out the study.
