Man dies in norovirus outbreak
(07 July 2009)A cruise ship passenger has died from a suspected outbreak of norovirus.
The man's details have not yet been released, but he is believed to be from Norwich in the UK.
More than 150 holidaymakers aboard the Marco Polo are thought to have fallen ill with the virus.
The vessel, which is currently docked in the Scottish town of Invergordon, was due to tour Britain and Ireland over the next seven days.
Dr Ken Oates, of NHS Highland, said: "We are working with local GPs in Invergordon as a number of people on board a cruise liner are suffering from vomiting.
"It is a suspected outbreak of norovirus but we have to carry out further tests before we are able to confirm exactly what it is."
