Man killed by bull in Spanish festival

(10 July 2009)

A man was killed by a bull at Spain's famous San Fermin festival earlier today.

The victim, whose identity is as yet unknown, was gored in the neck and lung during the running of the bulls.

This is the first fatality at the event, where bulls charge through the streets of the northern city of Pamplona, since 1995.

More than a dozen people were taken to hospital this morning after a bull turned back and started attacking the crowds chasing the half-tonne animals.
