World's largest cruise ship to dock in Southampton
(02 November 2009)The world's largest cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas, will be stopping at Southampton today (2 November).
The huge vessel, which can carry a staggering 5,400 passengers, is en route to Florida where it will be officially named on 30 November.
Oasis of the Seas will be making the UK stop-off to allow for workers to disembark before making the transatlantic crossing.
The cruise liner is the largest ever built, spanning 16 decks and featuring 2,700 rooms. The ship has been split into seven themed neighborhoods; Central Park, Boardwalk, the Royal Promenade, the Pool and Sports Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center, Entertainment Place and Youth Zone, to give guests a varied onboard experience.
Other highlights include the Aqua Theater, which transforms from pool to an evening entertainment venue with water, light and acrobatic shows, a hair-raising zipline, climbing walls and surfing simulators, as well as multiple pools and spa.
