Global travel trends 2010

Concierge services are set to make a rise across the mid market travel sector according to Euromonitor International, who released their results for the 2010 global travel trends at the World Travel Market yesterday (10 November). 

Kuoni are one company set to offer customers concierge options. Andrea Mueller, Communications Manager for Kuoni said; "Today people are overwhelmed by information on travel and tourism services and need more guidance. Concierge services will play and important role in helping them make intelligent choices based on their individual needs".

Other key trends mentioned in the report are the expected increase in pop-up sustainable hotels in the UK, with the M-hotel (www.m-hotel.org) set to open in London at the end of 2009 and Travelodge planning to build around 40 pop-up hotels per year by 2020. 

Latin-America is set to see important growth as a luxury travel destination. In Mexico, US$3.6 million will be spent on improving the luxury infrastructure and Peru is promoting the country's exotic and exclusive services. Four Seasons are also planning to open three hotels in Brazil by the end of 2012 and Argentina is set to open five luxury hotels in the next two years.
