Things to do in Osaka
Just 30 minutes south of central Osaka by train is the Nishikinohama Beach Park. This lively spot is great for swimming, as well as beach volleyball and a variety of watersports, such as jet skiing and windsurfing.
Central Osaka is dotted with rooftop practice nets, but for a day on the course, head to the Ibaraki Country Club - just 20 minutes from central Osaka on the JR or Hankyu lines. There are also several golf courses in nearby Hyogo prefecture.
It is possible to use Osaka as a base for day hikes in the surrounding countryside. There are a number of pleasant hiking routes around Takarazuka, which can be easily reached via the Hankyu line from Umeda.
It’s an easy day trip from Osaka to ski resorts in nearby Hyogo and Shiga. Head to Hyogo in mid-February for the best chance of powdery slopes.
