Oxford Events

A celebration of lesbian, gay, bi, trans and queer life in Oxfordshire, featuring a parade and various other festival events across the city.

In existence since 2001, the Cowley Road Carnival is a vibrant street party with processions and live music. In 2010, there was also an open-air concert held in South Park as part of the festivities.

An annual get-together of friends and musicians from around the world, resulting in a series of chamber music concerts at various venues throughout the city. The festival was founded by violinist Priya Mitchell in 2000.

Street parade with floats and fun, taking place through the city centre and finishing at Oxford Castle.

Various events focusing on women's situation and rights in today's society, taking place throughout the city and celebrating creativity through talks, workshops, theatre, exhibitions and workshops.

A well-established programme of talks, book readings, events and dinners, attracting good crowds and invariably drawing a number of big names from the world of literature. Those previously involved include Philip Pullman, Hanif Kureishi and Sebastian Faulks.

Founded in 2003, the rapidly expanding Oxford Folk Festival is a weekend of live music, bolstered by real ale, ceilidhs, morris dancing, street parades and craft fairs.

Held on the Isis River (the local name for this stretch of the Thames), the Bumps are a series of rowing races in which boats, spaced a certain distance apart, endeavour to reach the boat in front and ‘bump’ it. An entertaining spectacle.
