Airport news: 

Construction of an entirely new US$2 billion international airport to the east of the current airport started in 2004 and is scheduled for completion in 2015, with an initial opening in 2011. During the construction period, the current airport is being expanded and refurbished at a cost of US$140 million. As part of this expansion, international carrier flights have moved to Terminal B, while the newly-renamed Terminal A operates departure flights solely from Qatar Airways.

Transfer between terminals: 

Terminals A and B are adjacent to one another and within a short walking distance.

Driving directions: 

From the city centre, follow Al Matar Street towards the southeast and follow the signs to Doha International Airport. Alternatively, drive further east on Ras Abu Abboud Street and follow signs to the airport. The New Doha International Airport is located adjacent to the existing site off Ras Abu Abboud Street.

Public Transport

Public transport road: 

Shuttle: Numerous hotels offer shuttle services to and from the airport – each of these have desks in the arrivals area.

Taxi: Doha's metered taxis are available just outside the airport. A limousine service is also available. These can be pre-booked on: 4458 8888.

Terminal facilities

Money: 

Qatar National Bank currently operates a bank branch in Terminal A. ATMs and bureau de change are located in both terminals.

Communication: 

There is a post office in Terminal A. Free Wi-Fi internet access is available in both terminals, as well as at designated internet stations.

Food: 

There are plenty of outlets selling food, coffee, fast-food, snacks and ice creams at Doha International Airport.

Shopping: 

There are several shops at Doha International Airport. The duty-free shops are well stocked, selling cosmetics, toiletries, electronics, gift items, souvenirs and much else.

Luggage: 

Lost luggage inquiries should be directed to the information desk (tel: 4465 6666) or your airline.

Other: 

A medical clinic, with an emergency trauma and cardio-treatment room, is available at Doha International Airport. A mosque for men only is located in the departure and arrivals halls and a mosque for both men and women is located in departures. There are smoking rooms in the departure and transit areas.

Conference and business: 

Complimentary Wi-Fi internet access is available at Qatar Airways’ first and business class lounges, and at the Oryx lounge (tel: 4465 6658) for first and business class passengers (or economy passengers for a fee). Disabled facilities: 

There are toilets for wheelchair users and designated parking spaces for disabled passengers at Doha International Airport.

Car parking: 

Doha International Airport has 1,250 parking spaces outside the terminal buildings. The covered car park has been designed to protect vehicles from the heat.

Airport hotels

There is one hotel at Doha International Airport – many others are available in the city, and most of these operate shuttle bus services to the terminal buildings.

Oryx-Rotana Doha

The closest accommodation to Doha International Airport, this luxury hotel has 388 rooms and 12 suites, plus a choice of restaurants and bars – including one at the poolside. There is also a jazz club, which runs from Monday to Saturday evenings, and an extensive leisure and fitness centre.
