Things to do in Rome
A favourite weekend activity in Rome is cycling around one of the city’s scenic parks. The benefits of the traffic restrictions in the historic centre also makes it easy to glide around the Rome's great monuments using the city’s bike-sharing scheme. Other popular cycling routes include the Tiber path from Castel Giubileo to Mezzo Cammino, and the old Roman road, Via Appia Antica, which is closed to traffic on Sunday. Typical bike hire costs €3 per hour and €10 per day.

Golf is an exclusive game in Rome usually requiring club membership. However, most clubs will receive non-members if you show a membership card from your home club and proof of handicap. Fees are usually based on a day’s play. Country Club Castelgandolfo, Via di Santo Spirito 13, is located just outside Rome, within a volcanic crater. Rome’s best course though is the Circolo del Golf Roma Acquasanta, Via Appia Nuova 716, situated in the beautiful countryside near the Appia Antica.

In summer temperatures in Rome soar and knowing where the nearest pool is becomes a vital piece of knowledge. La Piscina delle Rose, Viale America 20, is Rome’s largest, open-air pool. It gets busy in summer so go early to secure a poolside deck chair. More central and a good deal sexier is the rooftop pool at the Radisson SAS, Via Filippo Turati 171. It is open to nonguests for €40 per day. There’s also a poolside cocktail bar and restaurant.
