Santiago de Compostela Nightlife
Characterful bars and nightclubs can be found in the Old Quarter and along the Rúa do Franco, but Santiago de Compostela is a university city and the nightlife is dominated by the student population; the rectangle defined by Rúa de Santiago de Chile and Rúa de San Pedro de Mezonzo is the focus of this, full of raucous bars swarming with students; Rúa Nova de Abaixo is also very popular.
Cultural life in Santiago de Compostela is intimately tied up with the promotion of Galician identity. The university provides continuous input to local cultural life, with plays, film screenings and cultural events constantly taking place during term time.
Tickets to cultural events are available direct from the venue. Event listings can be found in the El Compostelán and Santiago 7 Días publications, available in bars and cafés and from the tourist office.
