La Thuile - Après-ski
La Thuile has more than 20 bars, mostly in the hotels, and is not usually a hot spot for après-ski. But a good place to start the evening is Chocolat, Località Entrèves 2 (tel: (0165) 884 783), where you can enjoy home-made ice cream or the signature chocolate tometta and chocolate fondue.
La Bricole Disco Pub, Frazione Entrèves, offers quality beers and cocktails from 1700 right through to 0400 (happy hour from 1700 to 1900). In the Planibel complex, the Fantasia Disco can be busy in the small hours, particularly at weekends.
There are about 30 restaurants in La Thuile and its environs including much better establishments than on average in a resort of its size.
This being Italy, pizza and pasta are going to be good, and these specialities are home-made at La Lisse, Frazione Arly (tel: (0165) 884 167). The establishment also serves focaccia, raclette, fondue, plat gourmet and grilled meats. Le Rascard, Frazione P Goletta 103 (tel: (0165) 884 999), has a traditional wood stove for its pizza and even does a chocolate variety.
La Neige, Strada Stata 26, is 10km (6 miles) from town but just off Piste 7 on the ski map. It serves regional cuisine, including typical cold cuts and cheese. Back in the Planibel complex A La Lune offers Tuscan and Aosta Valley specialities.
If it's possible to have enough of Italian food, Pepita Café, Frazione Entrèves (tel: (0165) 883 047), offers Tex-Mex cuisine (although it also does pizza). Look out for the totem pole 200m (660ft) from the resort centre of La Thuile.
