Alicante Airport is a key gateway to the popular Costa Blanca region of Spain, making it among Spain’s busiest airports. Our Alicante Airport guide includes contact details and information on facilities, transport and accommodation options.
A new terminal complex opened in 2011 and the previous two separate terminals were closed. However, plans are in place to restore these by 2014, following completion of a connecting hall.
Airport information desks are located at the check-in area and in the departures area. The Valencia Tourism Agency (tel: 96 691 9367) has an information desk in Arrivals.
From Alicante, take the westbound Alicante-Murcia route (A-70) and leave at the airport junction. Alternatively, take the westbound national road N-340 to Alicante Airport.
From Benidorm, take the AP-7 southwards, turn onto the eastbound A-70 and follow signs to the airport.
Bus: The C6 public bus service operated by Subús (www.subus.es) runs every 20 minutes to/from Alicante central bus station (journey time: approximately 20 minutes; fare: €2.90). Other services run to Elche, Benidorm and Murcia. All buses depart from opposite the arrivals hall.
Taxi: Taxis are available in front of the arrivals hall at Alicante Airport (journey time to Alicante: 15-20 minutes; fare: from €20). Further taxi information (tel: 96 542 7777) is available.
Bureaux de change and ATMs are located within the terminal building, both before and after the security screening area.
Payphones are available throughout the terminal. Paid-for Wi-Fi access (the first 15 minutes of which is free of charge) is provided, and there are also internet kiosks equipped with mobile phone chargers at various locations within the main building.
There are several bars, cafés and restaurants at Alicante Airport, as well as a fast-food outlet and an ice cream parlour. The majority of places to eat are located on the second floor, in the departures area.
There is a varied selection of shops at Alicante Airport; these include newsagents, tobacconists, a delicatessen, clothes boutiques, gift shops, a jewellery outlet and an electronics retailer. There are also three duty-free shops for passengers leaving the EU, all of which are post-security.
A lost property office (tel: 96 691 9223) is situated on the ground floor. There is no left-luggage facility at Alicante Airport.
A meeting room is available for hire on the terminal's ground floor, and there is a VIP lounge in the boarding area offering internet access and refreshments. More extensive meeting and conference facilities are available at the region's hotels – the nearest such facilities are at the Hotel Areca (tel: 96 568 5477; www.hotelareca.es), about 2km (1.6 miles) from the airport.
There is a designated area outside the terminal building for dropping-off disabled passengers. There are also reserved parking spaces for disabled passengers in the airport car park opposite the terminal building. In and around the terminal, there are lifts, ramps and disabled toilets. Wheelchairs are available on request and it is advised to pre-arrange the provision and collection of a wheelchair before arriving at the airport. Passengers requiring special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel
Parking is available in two car parks with a total capacity of 3,000 spaces. One car park is located opposite the terminal building and the other is adjacent; long- and short-term parking rates are available in both areas.
Car hire is available from Avis, Centauro, Europcar, Goldcar Rental, Hertz, National Atesa, Record Go and Sixt. Desks for these operators can be found on the ground floor, in the public area.
