Flying to St Lucia
Flights to St Lucia are served by many airlines including LIAT (www.liatairline.com) and Air Caraibes (www.aircaraibes.com). Virgin Atlantic (www.virgin-atlantic.com) and BA (www.britishairways.com) fly to St Lucia direct from London.
From London to Castries is 9 hours, and from New York is 4 hours.
All visitors over 12 years of age pay departure tax. Currently it stands at EC$68/$26 but this is usually included in the price of a ticket.
Getting to St Lucia by boat
The main ports in St Lucia are Castries, Soufrière and Vieux Fort.
St Lucia is also served by a number of cruise lines as well as local passenger/freight lines. The duty-free port at Pointe Seraphine offers two-berth cruise ship facilities, duty-free shopping, restaurants and bars; it may be visited by anyone, although a valid passport and an airline ticket are required to make duty-free purchases.
L'Express des Iles (www.express-des-iles.com), a high-speed catamaran service, operates between St Lucia and Dominica, calling at Martinique and Guadeloupe (journey times: St Lucia to Martinique - 1 hour 20 minutes; Martinique to Dominica - 1 hour 20 minutes).
