Since 1992 this has been the leading festival in Sweden for beer, cider and whisky. The event is held over two weekends in late September and early October and showcases some 500 national and international beers, ciders and whiskies. There are tastings, expert seminars and awards. For further refreshment, restaurants serve everything from sausages to oysters as well as many beer-based dishes. A programme of lively on-stage entertainment accompanies the festivities.

Taking place in Stockholm's historic Old Town, the annual Stockholm Early Music Festival presents a musical programme that includes a mix of international stars as well as young and emerging talent. The event was first held in 2002 and has already established itself as a favourite among fans of early musical styles, showcasing pieces from the middle ages, renaissance and baroque periods. The festival includes three series: evening concerts in the German Church, afternoon concerts in the Finnish Church and lunch-time concerts in the Royal Coin Cabinet. The world's oldest open-air museum, on an island near the centre of Stockholm, consists of historic buildings set in parkland, with a zoo for further amusement. Each year on 6 June, it welcomes Swedish Royal Family arrive to celebrate National Day, a patriotic occasion celebrated mainly by nationals, but also offering much in the way of pageantry for the tourist to enjoy. Expect flag waving, speeches and music throughout Stockholm, before the royals proceed to Skansen, where further events are held. The release of 50,000 yellow and dark blue balloons takes place at Skeppsbron outside the Royal Palace.

The Stockholm Pride is the largest gay and lesbian event in Scandinavia and each year attracts thousands of revellers of all persuasions for the week-long celebrations, which take place on the largest (and trendiest) of Stockholm’s islands, Södermalm. The entire island turns itself over to the event, with many of the streets and shops bedecked with rainbow flags and decorations. Many of the events take place at the Pride Park where there is a stage, stalls, food and drink vendors and other entertainment.
