Flying to Sudan

Flights to Sudan are served by the national airline Sudan Airways (SD) arriving at Khartoum International Airport.

Flight times:

From London to Khartoum is 8 hours, including stopover.

Departure tax:

US$20 (Sudanese nationals may pay in local currency). Transit passengers (within 24 hours) are exempt.

Driving to Sudan

The only practical land border is with Ethiopia at Gallabat. The land border with Egypt is periodically closed to foreigners.

Getting to Sudan by boat

Piracy has been reported in the area. A ferry runs twice a week from Wadi Halfa down Lake Aswan to Aswan (Egypt). Irregularly-departing barge head up the Nile from Kosti to Malakal in South Sudan.
