Hotels in Toulouse
As the European hub for aerospace, Toulouse has plenty of accommodation, although the vast majority is in business hotels and a sizeable chunk is right by the airport. Central Toulouse has more atmospheric places but they come at a price. Unlike most of Europe, prices here tend to fall at the weekend as the offices and meeting rooms empty out and business travellers head home. When it comes to hotels in Toulouse, expect high quality, but not world-class luxury.
The Toulouse hotels below have been grouped into three pricing categories:
Luxury (over €180)
Moderate (€85 to €180)
Cheap (up to €85)
These Toulouse hotel prices are for a double room per night and include all taxes but not breakfast, unless otherwise stated.
Grand Hôtel de l'Opéra
Right in front of the spectacular Théâtre du Capitole, this luxury hotel is where celebrities stay when in Toulouse. Formerly a 17th-century convent, there’s nothing austere about the place now. Each room is individually decorated, in hues of deep yellow and red, but all offer old-world charm combined with modern amenities.
Hôtel des Beaux Arts
For a room with an unforgettable view of Toulouse’s Pont Neuf illuminated at night, try the Hôtel des Beaux Arts. The building itself has an 18th-century facade and a busy yet brilliant brasserie downstairs. Rooms somehow combine modern animal print cushions with a romantic charm from days gone by.
Hôtel Mermoz
Polished and pretty, even if it’s on an ugly street, the renovated Hôtel Mermoz offers comfortable rooms decorated in a simple yet funky style. A green outdoor terrace and airy bar give it a truly continental feel.
Crowne Plaza Hotel
Only a few footsteps away from the iconic Place du Capitole, when you step inside the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Toulouse, you feel as though you’ve entered another world. With marble statues, lush greenery and an outdoor terrace with wrought-iron chairs, this feels more like Italy than France.
Hôtel Garonne
This charming boutique hotel in Toulouse uses oak, velvet, marble and silk to make you feel spoilt rotten. Tucked away from the busy part of town, it’s a quiet retreat that’s ideal for recharging your batteries. While it doesn’t have a restaurant on site, just across the road you’ll find the renowned Le 19 restaurant, housed beneath 16th-century, pink-brick arches.
Pullman Toulouse Centre
Bright, light and modern, the Pullman Toulouse Centre is a business hotel that throws in a bit of style for weekend travellers. With funky scarlet chairs, white walls and elegant vases, it’s a breath of fresh air if you’ve had a little too much of the Toulousain style. The Pullman Toulouse Centre belongs to the Accor chain, so if you have a loyalty card with them then you may be able to get a discount. NB: Don’t confuse it with the Pullman Toulouse Blagnac, which is out by the airport.
Hôtel des Arts
Not to be confused with the substantially more upmarket Hôtel des Beaux Arts, this one may not have the glitz and glamour but it still has a great location. Just off Place St Georges, one of the most romantic parts of Toulouse, it’s also within walking distance of the river.
Hôtel Héliot
Decorated in a style that perhaps your grandmother would choose, Hôtel Héliot is a cosy and comfortable place to stay in Toulouse. It’s close to the main train station and the Jean Jaurès metro, and even though it’s not on the doorstep of Place du Capitole, it’s perfectly straightforward to walk there from here.
Hôtel Royal Wilson
Clean and simple, Hôtel Royal Wilson is within walking distance of Toulouse’s city centre. With wrought-iron balconies and a whitewashed interior, the décor might come as a pleasant surprise given the price tag.
