Airport news: 

A new duty-free shopping area, along with new pre-boarding zones, opened in mid-2010. Further expansion of the airport's capacity and facilities, including development of a 250-room hotel, is scheduled for completion in 2012.

Driving directions: 

The airport is on the A38. From the North, leave the M5 at junction 18 and take the A4 towards Bristol. Connect with the A38 towards Taunton. From the South, leave the M5 at Junction 22 and take A38. From East, join the M5 southbound. Exit at junction 18. Take A4 towards Bristol. Connect with A38 towards Taunton. From South Wales, follow M4 over Severn Crossing. At junction 22 branch left to join M49. Take A4. Connect with A38 towards Taunton.

Public Transport

Public transport rail: 

Rail: The nearest train station to the airport is Bristol Temple Meads which is found approximately seven miles away. The Bristol International Flyer express coach service connects from Bristol Temple Meads to the airport every 15 minutes at peak times. Public transport road: 

Bus: Bristol International Flyer (flyer.bristolairport.co.uk): runs an express link between Bristol Temple Meads railway station, Bristol Bus Station, Clifton and Bristol International Airport. Book through the airport website.

Coach: National Express (tel: 0871 781 8178; www.nationalexpress.com) coaches operate throughout the South West and South Wales to Bristol Bus Station where you can connect to the Bristol International Flyer, taking you directly to the terminal building. The 404/406 overnight National Express services between Penzance and London now rout via Bristol International Airport, stopping outside the terminal at 0230 and 0215 daily.

Taxi: The official airport taxi service is provided by Checker Cars (tel: 01275 475000; www.checkercars.com). A booking desk is located within the new covered walkway linking the terminal to the adjacent pick up car park and is open 24/7.

Terminal facilities

Money: 

Travelex (Bureau de Change) desks can also be found at the airport before and after security. ATMs are situated next to Travelex, opposite the easyJet check in desks. There is Wireless Internet connection throughout the terminal. BIA also has computers with Internet access for passengers; there are four computers before security, 12 after security and also in the executive lounge. Payphones are available within the terminal.

Food: 

There is a choice of snack bar and cafés before security, and a café, bar and a selection of restaurants airside.

Shopping: 

A range of duty-free and gift shops is offered at the airport, plus a pharmacy, newsagents and a book shop.

Airport facilities

Conference and business: 

Four meeting/conference rooms are available within the terminal building (tel: 0871 334 4444), offering capacity for up to 100 delegates. Other facilities include basic office services such as fax and photocopying. The Servisair Executive lounge is found in the departures area and includes complimentary drinks and snacks, fax, telephone, TV and Wi-Fi Internet access. Meeting facilities are also offered by some nearby hotels.

Disabled facilities: 

For general inquiries regarding passengers with reduced mobility, contact (tel: 0871 334 4444). The airport features lifts to all floors, wheelchairs, disabled toilets with help buttons, and Braille signs. Passengers requiring special assistance should contact their airline before travelling.

Car parking: 

The short stay car park is close to the terminal and is available for stays of up to three days. The Silver Zone car park is the cheapest on-site option, and is available for stays of more than four days; a 24-hour courtesy bus service takes five to six minutes to and from the terminal. The Long Stay car park is a three to four minute bus ride from the terminal. Premium and valet parking are also offered. All parking is bookable via the airport website. Car rental: 

Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz and National are all represented at the airport. All are located immediately opposite the terminal building.
