London Stansted Airport is located 48km (30 miles) northeast of central London

BAA, the airport's current operator, has been ordered to sell London Stansted Airport by the Government, a decision it is currently appealing. As a consequence, plans to expand the airport, with construction of a second runway, have been cancelled.
A 24-hour information desk is located in the international arrivals area. Courtesy telephones are situated around the terminal, with a direct link to the information desk.
London Stansted Airport is situated next to junction 8 of the M11 motorway, less than 20 minutes away from junction 27 of the M25 motorway. The airport is easily accessible from central London.
Public Transport
Rail: The station is located directly beneath the terminal building. The Stansted Express rail service (tel: 0845 600 7245; www.stanstedexpress.co.uk) runs direct to London Liverpool Street Station (journey time: 50 minutes; fare £22.50 – discounts are available for online booking), stopping at Tottenham Hale for tube connections to the West End. CrossCountry Trains (tel: 0844 811 0124; www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk) operates services to the Midlands and beyond. For train times and fares, call National Rail (tel: 0845 748 4950; www.nationalrail.co.uk).
Coach: There are National Express (tel: 0871 781 8181; www.nationalexpress.com) coach services to London Victoria (A6) (journey time: 105 minutes; fare: £10), London Liverpool Street and Stratford (A9) (journey time: 60 minutes; fare: £8), as well as other destinations. Easybus (www.easybus.co.uk) route EB2 connects to London Baker Street (journey time: 75 minutes; fare: from £2). The Terravision Express Shuttle (tel: (01279) 662 931; www.terravision.eu) provides a non-stop service to London Victoria (journey time: 75 minutes; fare: from £6) – other services are available to Liverpool Street Station and Stratford. Taxi: Taxis, operated by 24x7 (tel: (01279) 661 111; www.24x7stansted.com), are available to London and elsewhere, departing from outside the terminal building. The journey time to central London is around 60 minutes and fare is approximately £100.
Terminal facilities
ATMs and bureaux de change are available both pre- and post security.
An internet exchange service is available. Paid wireless internet access is also available throughout the terminal. There are post boxes for letters, while stamps are available at the WH Smith outlets in check-in Zone C and the international arrivals area.
There are various restaurants, cafés and bars before and after security at London Stansted Airport. These include Italian restaurants, fast food outlets and a British-style pub.
There are numerous shops throughout the terminal, which range from duty-free outlets to designer shops and newsagents. A free shopping collection service is available for passengers travelling within the EU (tel: (01279) 662 546).
There is a left-luggage facility (tel: (01279) 663 213) and a lost property service (tel: (01279) 663 293).
A multi-faith chapel is located in check-in Zone J. Baby-changing areas and free showers are also available.
Airport facilities
The United Business Centre (tel: 0800 169 9822; www.unitedbusinesscentres.co.uk), which is open Monday to Friday, is a short drive from the terminal (courtesy cars are available) and has meeting rooms with space for up to 30 people. The on-site Hilton London Stansted (tel: (01279) 680 800; www.hilton.co.uk) and Radisson Blu Hotel (tel: (01279) 661 012; www.radissonblu.co.uk) have extensive meeting space. Business lounges are available and are bookable via the airport website.
Ramps, lifts and elevators link all levels of the terminal building, including the station. There are wheelchair-accessible toilets throughout London Stansted Airport. All telephones are fitted with induction couplers and hearing loops and TDD telephones are also installed within the terminal. Passengers requiring wheelchair and assistance boarding the aircraft should contact their airline prior to travel.
Reserved parking is provided; courtesy transfer shuttles to the car parks are wheelchair-accessible. All trains serving London Stansted Airport are equipped with facilities for disabled passengers; many coaches are not and passengers should check with the individual service providers.
There is short-, mid- and long-term car parking at London Stansted Airport. The short-term parking is located very close to the terminal building; pre-booking is available (secure.baa.com/baa). Regular coaches transfer passengers from the mid- and long-term car parks to the terminal. Parking for motorcycles is free in the designated ‘D’ zone of the long-stay car park.
Car hire companies located at London Stansted Airport include: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt.
Airport hotels
A six-minute shuttle bus ride from London Stansted Airport, the Hilton London Stansted Airport has 14 meeting rooms and a business centre. Among its leisure facilities is a gym, indoor pool, bar and on-site restaurant.
The Holiday Inn Express London Stansted Airport is within 3km (2 miles) of the airport and is linked via a bus service, which takes five minutes. The hotel has six meeting rooms, complimentary Wi-Fi internet in common areas, and a 24-hour business centre.
Radisson Blu Stansted Airport is located two minutes from London Stansted Airport via a covered walkway from the terminal building. The hotel has an indoor pool, a wellness centre and meeting space for up to 400 delegates.
