Belfast International Airport Guide (BFS)
Here you'll find essential information on Belfast International Airport, including contact details, airport transfer facts, details of airport facilities, and how to get there.
Belfast International Airport has recently upgraded and expanded its duty-free shopping areas. A new express bus link now operates between Belfast International Airport and the city centre.
The airport information desk (tel: (028) 9448 4848) located in the Arrivals hall provides information on flights, public transport and general enquiries. A tourist information desk is also located in Arrivals.
From Belfast, travel north on the M2 motorway, then turn off at junction 5. Belfast International Airport is situated off the A57, 11km (7 miles) from junction 5. From the south and west, take the Moira junction on the M1 motorway, then the A26 and Nutts Corner junction.
Public Transport
Rail: Trains to and from Belfast, Lisburn and Londonderry call at Antrim station, which is 10 km (6 miles) from Belfast International Airport. Bus 109A and taxis link the airport with Antrim.
Bus: The new Airporter express service (tel: (028) 7126 9966; www.airporter.co.uk) connects the airport with central Belfast and George Best Belfast City Airport (journey time: 35 minutes).The Airport Express 300 (tel: (028) 9066 6630; www.translink.co.uk) service runs every 10 minutes between Belfast International Airport and Belfast city centre (journey time: 30-40 minutes). The bus departs from the front of the terminal building and travels to Belfast Europa Buscentre; stopping at Templepatrick on request.
Coach: A service operated by Airporter (tel: (028) 7126 9996; www.airporter.co.uk) is also available to Derry/Londonderry.
Taxi: International Airport Taxis Company taxis (tel: (028) 9448 4353; www.belfastairporttaxis.com) leave from outside the terminal building.
Terminal facilities
There are two bureaux de change offices and several ATMs throughout the terminal building. There are also postal facilities, telephones and Internet kiosks. Wireless Internet access is available.
There is a café and bar in the main Departures lounge and a full range of food outlets in the food court.
Shops include newsagents/bookshops, duty-free, a tax-free electronics store and a gift shop selling Irish gifts.
Lost and found items can be collected or deposited at the information desk in the Arrivals hall.
These include a children's play area, baby change facilities, a travel agency and a quiet room. There is an outside smoking area located after security, which is accessible for a £1 fee.
Airport facilities
The Business Lounge offers extensive business facilities, including Internet access, fax and photocopying facilities, television, newspapers and magazines, and refreshments. The lounge is available to any passenger at Belfast International Airport. Ten conference and banqueting suites are also available at the Park Plaza Hotel Belfast International Airport (tel: (028) 9445 7000; www.parkplazabelfast.com).
Wheelchairs are available from individual airlines, as well as from airport staff until check-in. Passengers are, however, advised to book a wheelchair in advance from the airline when purchasing a ticket. Disabled toilets and telephones are also available. There is a Minicom unit at the airport information desk. Disabled car parking is available in the airport car parks; porters are on hand to assist with baggage. Staff at the airport information desk are trained in basic sign language and can provide assistance to passengers with special needs.
More than 8,000 parking spaces are available in three parking areas: short-stay; the 'main car park' and the pre-bookable long-stay facility.
Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt are represented at Belfast International Airport. Desks are situated in the Arrivals Hall.
Airport hotels
Park Plaza Hotel Belfast International Airport hotel is a short walk from the airport. The 4-star hotel offers complimentary parking and free access to the local leisure centre. The hotel also has a conference room seating up to 250 people.
