George Best Belfast City Airport Guide (BHD)
The airport is situated 3km (2 miles) east of Belfast.
Here you'll find essential information on George Best Belfast City Airport, including contact details, airport transfer facts, details of airport facilities, and how to get there.
In mid-2010, the airport completed a £6 million refurbishment of its terminal facilities, including a new departures lounge, improved security procedures and parking upgrades. However, it received a blow in October 2010, when Ryanair withdrew its operations due to delays in runway extension plans.
The information desk (tel: (028) 9093 9093) is located on the main concourse, in the Arrivals area.
From the city centre, follow signs for City Airport/Bangor on the Sydenham Bypass (A2). From the west and south, take Westlink M3 towards Bangor and the airport is 3km (1 mile) on the left of the Sydenham Bypass (A2). From the north, take the M3 towards Bangor; the airport is 3km (1 mile) on the left of the Sydenham Bypass (A2).
Public Transport
Rail: Trains run to Belfast Central and Victoria Street stations (tel: (028) 9066 6630; www.translink.co.uk/NI-Railways). Trains leave from the Sydenham station adjacent to the airport, which can be reached by courtesy bus from the airport terminal (journey time: 6 minutes).
Bus: The Airport Express bus service, route 600, (tel: (028) 9066 6630; www.translink.co.uk) operates from the terminal to Belfast Europa Bus Centre. Citybus 21 operates from Sydenham to City Hall; it is a five-minute walk to the bus stop (journey time: 15 minutes). An Airporter service (tel: (028) 7126 9996; www.airporter.co.uk) operates nine daily coaches to Derry/Londonderry.
Taxi: Airport approved taxis operate from a rank directly outside the terminal building.

A special check-in desk is provided for disabled passengers and staff members are trained in basic signing. There are low-level kerbs at entrances and exits to the terminals. An induction loop can be fitted and a text phone can be provided on request from the information desk. Toilets and telephones are designed for disabled users; there are lifts and ramps to all areas and all taxis are wheelchair-friendly.
