Edinburgh Airport Guide (EDI)
Located a short distance west of the Scottish capital, Edinburgh Airport is the main airport for eastern Scotland. Our Edinburgh Airport guide includes contact details and information on facilities, transport and accommodation options.
Previous owner BAA agreed to sell Edinburgh Airport to Global Infrastructure Partners, which also owns Gatwick and London City, in April 2012. Considerable investment is planned and a new tram link between Edinburgh Airport and the city centre (St Andrew Square) is expected to be operational by 2014.
The combined airport information and VisitScotland tourist information desk is located next to International Arrivals (tel: 0844 481 8989).
Edinburgh Airport is located just off the A8 heading west from the centre of Edinburgh. The well-signposted access road turns north off the A8 between the Gogar and Newbridge roundabouts.
Public Transport
Rail: There is no rail service at Edinburgh Airport. However, the main Edinburgh Haymarket Railway Station in the city centre (served by bus link) offers services throughout Scotland and further afield (tel: 08457 484 950; www.nationalrail.co.uk).
Bus: Frequent, 24-hour bus services run from the bus station outside Domestic Arrivals to the central Edinburgh bus terminus at Waverley Bridge, also stopping at Edinburgh Haymarket Railway Station. The Airlink 100 express service (journey time: 25 minutes; fare: £3.50) operates daily from 0400 to 0022 (tel: (0131) 555 6363; www.flybybus.com). During the night, the N22 operates at 30-minute intervals (journey time: 28 minutes; fare: £3). Bus 35 operates from Ocean Terminal via the city centre to Edinburgh Airport (journey time: 60 minutes; fare: £1.40).
For more information on times and fares, or to book tickets, contact Lothian Buses (tel: (0131) 555 6363; www.lothianbuses.co.uk). Tickets are available at a kiosk outside the terminal.
Taxi: Taxis are available outside the arrivals area and from the rank by the coach station. These can be pre-booked from Edinburgh City Private Hire (tel: (0131) 477 4000; www.edinburghcityprivatehire.com) or Executive Onward Travel (tel: (0131) 333 2255). The journey time and fare varies according to time of day, although it typically takes 25 minutes and costs around £18 to the city centre.
